We're all in luck as our favorite Korean actors have been confirmed to star as the main characters of tvN's "Silicon Valley"-themed drama, "Startup"!
Although the upcoming series will premiere sometime in October, the cast members' fans are already on the edge of their chairs. "Startup" will be tvN's weekend show, wherein Suzy will star alongside Nam Joo Hyuk, Kim Seon Ho, and Kang Han Na.
The drama will highlight the beginning of starting their own company. Intense planning, as well as brainstorming of making the startup, will be shown. Also, the developing love between the lead stars will blossom. These youngsters dream of making their startup company a success to become Korea's "Silicon Valley."
Though they may be exhausted, they will inevitably rise to the occasion and go through the challenges that will come along their way.
The romance is something we want to see as realistically. If you are in a relationship with the co-owners, good things will never come, especially decision-making. There will be a fight between the egos of a man and a woman.
If you loved "Hotel Del Luna," you would surely love "Startup" as Oh Chung Hwan will also be helming the series. The screenwriter Park Hye Ran, who wrote "Pinocchio" and "I Can Hear Your Voice," will reunite with Director Oh since their drama "While You Were Sleeping."
Suzy's role is an ambitious young woman who dreams of becoming the Steve Jobs of Korea. She will play the character of Seo Dalmi. She may not have all the luxuries in life and only has enough, but it doesn't stop her. Her determination in the hope of reversing her life pushed her further. She has been working as a part-timer to make ends meet. She also has banking experiences as a part-time employee, so the financial knowledge she has will surely help her as she starts her company.
Nam Joo Hyuk, on the other hand, is a brilliant man. He is also considered a Math genius who brought pride to his family. However, his role as Nam Do San, is the founder of Samsan Tech, a struggling company because of losing investment money for two consecutive years.
Desperate trying to avoid such disgrace, he remembered Seo Dalmi in his deepest moments about her having the first-love-crush on him and eventually decided that they become partners of the startup company. Watch out as their relationship will deepen as they work closely together.
Kim Seon Ho is a team leader at SH Venture Capital and was nicknamed "Investment's Gordon Ramsay." He will play as Han Ji Pyung, who has exceptional investment skills but has a very sharp tongue, is not mindful of his choice of words, and does not care what the other person thinks. He started the company to try and pay off his debt. He may appear cold-hearted, but he sure has a warm heart.
Lastly, Won In Jae will be played by Kang Han Na. She is the CEO of her father's company. Although people consider being a chaebol daughter a strength, Han Na finds it as a weakness because she wants to succeed on her own. Her father eventually kicked her out of the company, so she joined the startup to avoid further damage.
