Police authorities dismissed actor Shin Hyun Joon's controversy over a past drug use case.

Kim Gwang Seob is the former manager of the Shin Hyun Joon, who accused him of not paying his salary and then presented numerous text messages between the two. Then, on July 13, Kim went to the Seoul Gangnam Police station and filed a written accusation. Kim Gwang Seob requested the authorities to reinvestigate Shin's illegal use of medication propofol in 2010.

The written accusation stated, "Back in 2010, Shin Hyun Joon got a drug overdose while receiving treatment at a dermatologist in Gangnam district. In accordance with the complaint, the Seoul Central District then made a thorough check of Shin's involvement in such claims".

The Seoul Gangnam Police station on August 12 confirmed to have rejected the grievances filed by Kim Gwang Seob. The police district examined the case and then released an assessment on July 27. As determined, the actor didn't illegally administer the drug for two major reasons.

According to the police, during the year 2010 wherein Kim Gwang Seob submitted the claim that Shin used the medication, was the year prior Propofol was set as a drug which was in February 2011. Therefore, the 7-year statute of limitations for illegal drug use isn't for medical purposes then doesn't apply in Shin's case. It has been more than seven years.

The actor had been in disagreement with his former manager since last month. After his interview, Kim Gwang Seob went public and expressed his sentiments being mistreated by the actor for 13 years. As a result, Shin and his agency HJ Film then announced denying all alleged claims.

Following Kim's accusation, on July 27, Shin and his legal representatives lodged a complaint against Kim Gwang Seob for spreading false information and defamation.

According to Shin Hyun Joon, he met Kim Gwang Seob in 1991 and became friends and worked together. But due to Kim's troublesome, causing inconvenience to his work, the actor cut ties with Kim years ago. The manager disappeared for several years, and now Kim is back making a disturbance and giving out false claims towards the actor.

In addition, Shin and his two sons step down in appearing further episodes in KBS "The Return of Superman." The actor and his family appeared only on one episode as scheduled amidst the controversy. Shin shared a post on his Instagram account back in July, saying he could rely on God during hard times.

Shin Hyun Joon is known best for his character in "Barefoot Ki-bong" and "Stairway to Heaven."
