Today, August 15th, is known as an important day for Koreans!
The National Liberation Day of Korea is a special holiday celebrated every year on the 15th of August in both South and North Korea. It honors the country's victory over Japan when the U.S. and Soviet forces were able to put an end over the decades-long Japanese possession of Korea. This day is considered special since it is the only holiday being celebrated by both South and North Korea together.
This is a very proud commemoration event famously called "The 75th National Liberation Day of Korea - Our Country." The event was held at Seoul, South Korea, around ten in the morning KST. Present in the said event is, of course, the South Korean president Moon Jae In and the lovely first lady.
The host and MC of the event was famous South Korean actor Song Il Kook who is best known for his role in the 2006 hit drama series titled "Jumong." The female professional volleyball player Kim Yeon Kyung was also present. She is a member of the FIVB Athletes' Commission and is the outside hitter and captain of the South Korean National Team, and currently plays for Heungkuk Life. Kim Yeon Kyung was the representative of the citizens for the national pledge in the said commemoration event.
However, what caught the attention of Korean citizens was another familiar face present in the event and was seen in the crowd wearing his army uniform! The familiar face mentioned was none other than BTOB's Sungjae!
For those who isn't familiar with Yook Sung-jae, he is a South Korean singer, songwriter, actor, host, and entertainer. He is currently a member and leader of the third generation idol group BtoB and its sub-group, BtoB Blue.
Apart from being a K-pop star, he has also participated in TV dramas including "Who Are You: School 2015," "The Village: Achiara's Secret" (2015), "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" (2016) and "Mystic Pop-up Bar" (2020). He was also able to record and release six digital singles through the music project 3x2=6 from December 2019 to February 2020. On March 2, 2020, the young artist also made his solo debut with Yook O'Clock.
On May 3, 2020, BTOB's Sungjae declared through his Instagram account that he is enlisting in his mandatory military service on the 11th of May 2020 and it was confirmed by Cube. The idol singer will reportedly end his service on November 14, 2021.
In the "The 75th National Liberation Day of Korea Commemoration," BTOB's Sungjae was captured saluting toward Korea's national flag charismatically on camera standing straight like an honorable soldier. His photo was arrested right after a picture was taken of President Moon Jae In.
