The said variety show is where guests tell their problems and worries to seek advice from the hosts, Lee Soo Geun and Seo Jang Hoon.
Kim Hyun Joong started by saying, "Every day in my life, I am very sensitive to how others see me. Before, I was really a bright person, but I keep feeling so small. What advice would you give me on how I can feel less worried and downcasted, and to live happily again?"
To answer his question, Seo Jang Hoon said that there were a lot of things that happened in Kim Hyun Joong's life, pertaining to the lawsuit case that the actor had gone through starting in 2014. The host then asked him when exactly did it happen.
In response to Seo Jang Hoon's question, Hyun Joong answered, "It happened way back when I was 29 - 30 years old." Even though his case was resolved in November of 2020, he was still able to do some projects for his fans. "When Time Stopped" was the actor's latest drama which aired in 2018.
The 34-year-old actor continued sharing, "Of course, I can't say that I am in the right position during those times, but I always have the same dream every day. Until I started to feel a little comfortable in front of my family, I still feel distant every time I meet someone new. I have that kind of gut that people will always judge me. I also couldn't show myself to talk and reach out to other artists. I thought that there would be no good in them getting close to me."
He was asked if those were his reasons for avoiding work, which Kim Hyun Joong explained, "I have been working consistently. I couldn't be too open about it; that's why many people knew I haven't been up to anything. Just recently, my manager handed me the script for 'Indian Park,' an independent film. I rejected it at first, but the director said that the role had to be portrayed by me, and after hearing that, I was convinced to do it."
The actor continued, "When I found myself in front of the camera again, I had an overflowing of emotions. I also said to myself, 'This is where I am good at; what have I been doing?' I decided to put all my effort into the piece because I felt like it was the last chance that I have."
And true to his words, he made an amazing performance in portraying the character in the said film. It even made him receive an award at an American independent film festival, and he confessed that even if it didn't gain that much attention, he was proud of it.
He also shared that he feels lucky and blessed to be able to save someone's life after he gave first aid to a man having trouble breathing inside the restaurant, "Luckily, the man gained consciousness. I felt a little ashamed of myself, so I hurriedly left the place. Later on, I was reached out, but I tend to panic when I get calls from different people. The next day, I woke up, and I saw my name trending online. I couldn't even click every article because I felt scared that it might be bad news. Then my company called me and explained that the man had contacted a reporter to tell me what happened."
Kim Hyun Joong said that the incident was a blessing in disguise. Some people started to see him as a different and new person, and he gained the courage to continue living his life normally once again.
