Korean drama "Youth of May" starring Go Min Si and Lee Do Hyun, showcases a heartbreaking chapter in the lives of Hwang Hee Tae and Kim Myung Hee.
The latest episode starts with Hee Tae's father, Hwang Gi Nam, who is the head of the security defense, hands them a list and instructs the soldiers to arrest everyone.
They believe that North spies have infiltrated the Gwangju to start a coup; therefore, they were given orders to capture suspicious individuals.
As a result, the government has decided to enforce martial law nationwide, leaving Gwangju in a state of chaos.

Hwang Hee Tae Saves Kim Myung Hee
"Youth of May" episode 9 also showed the strong connection between Hwang Hee Tae (Lee Do Hyun) and Kim Myung Hee (Go Min Si), who would rather face challenges together than be separated.
As Hee Tae returns to Gwangju, he manages to rescue Myung Hee from soldiers. Just in the nick of time, he covered Myung Hee from the paratrooper who was about to beat her with a baton.
Unfortunately, he sustained head injuries while fighting a fierce battle with a soldier.
Myung Hee had no choice but to hit the officer with a large wood at the back to defend Hee Tae.
With Hee Tae's injuries, she opted to go straight to the Gwangju hospital and insisted on conducting a CT scan for him.
In "Youth of May" episode 9, Kim Myung Hee also introduced Hwang Hee Tae to her colleagues as her boyfriend.
As the duo was about to leave the hospital, they got caught by an earlier curfew as martial law was declared nationwide, which left them spending the night in an empty treating room.
Lee Soo Chan Defends a Civilian
The chaos in Gwangju prompted not just Hwang Hee Tae to return but also Lee Soo Ryun, who was concerned about her friends.
In "Youth of May" episode 9, Soo Ryun discovered that his friend, Jung Hye Gun ( Lee Kyu Sung), was missing and sought help from officer Choi Jeong Haeng (Jung Wook Jin.) As she was about to give her info, she heard that martial law had been declared in the area and fled to look for Hye Gun.
The latest episode also showed how Lee Soo Chan knew her sister very well.
Upon receiving a call from her, he mentioned that he knew that Lee Soo Ryun was not in Seoul but in Gwangju.
The older brother then warned her that things could not be changed and nothing she could do with society.
Following his heated talk with her sister, Soo Chan witnessed a group of soldiers harassing a young student.
He went to defend the student but got beaten by a soldier.
Police Officer Choi Jeong Haeng's Devastating Death
"Youth of May" episode 9 illustrates the challenging situation for the civilians and some police officers who don't share the same values with the government.
After helping Lee Soo Ryun and the rest of the individuals who were caught by the soldier, she found police officer Choi Jeong Haeng in the alley, who was tortured and beaten to death after helping the civilians.
Hwang Hee Tae Saves Lee Jin Ah
Hee Tae was forced to help and attend to patients at the hospital after Myung Hee insisted on staying due to the influx of patients.
In the latter part of episode 9, Hwang Hee Tae saw Lee Jin Ah (Park Se Hyun) lying in the hospital hallway and unconscious.
He faced his fears and saved her by doing CPR. Luckily Jin Ah responded and was immediately brought to the surgery room for her head injury.
