After the roller-coaster experience of Lee Jung Jae and Park Hae Soo, viewers are thrilled to know if Netflix will release the much-awaited Squid Game season 2.

Released on September 17, the nine-episode series follows the story of 456 individuals who voluntarily participated in the challenging survival game with their hopes of bagging the coveted cash prize of 40 million USD.

Unfortunately, the competition is not a walk in the park as the contestants need to battle and withstand the deadly rounds through a series of children's games.

One of the main characters in Netflix Kdrama Squid Game is Seong Gi Hoon, played by Lee Jung Jae. What made him decide to join the competition was his ballooning debt, his mother's illness, and lastly, he wanted to be with his child, who is about to go to the U.S.

Surprisingly, he meets his longtime friend, Cho Sang Woo, portrayed by the Prison Playbook star Park Hae Soo at the arena. Like the rest of the participants, he is also struggling financially and has an escalating debt reaching billions of won, not to mention the multiple crimes he has to settle due to his billion won debt.

Squid Game is not your ordinary children's game as it includes a death-defying match that involves a lot of physical, emotional, and mental work.

Apart from this, another thing that surprised the viewers was the shocking revelation illustrated in the series.

It turns out that the gamemaster is none other than player 001, Oh Il Nam (Oh Young Soo). In the latter part of the drama, he meets up with Seong Gi Hoon and tells him the reason behind putting up the survival game.

Since Lee Jung Jae and Park Hae Soo's K-drama ended with a cliffhanger, fans are looking forward if Netflix is set to release Squid Game season 2.

As of this writing, there's no official statement by either the streaming giant or the drama's production company, Siren Pictures Inc., to release the highly-anticipated sequel.

However, several viewers are hoping for season two after giving the audience an open-ended story that leaves fans drawing their conclusions and predictions to the series.

Fingers crossed that anytime soon, Netflix would express their intention of renewing the thriller mystery K-drama due to public demand and positive response from the viewers.

To recall, Squid Game became a trending topic on social media worldwide and was even compared to Japanese survival game dramas such as As the Gods Will and another Netflix series Alice in Borderland.
