"Jirisan" episode 2 did not disappoint the viewers with its surprising twists and turns as Jun Ji Hyun and Ju Ji Hoon managed to put the missing pieces behind a mysterious accident.

Not only that, but the October 24 episode also illustrates the background of Mount Jirisan's top ranger, Seo Yi Kang.

'Jirisan' Episode 2 Highlights: Seo Yi Kang Confess the Reason why She Came Back at Jirisan

After returning with a wheelchair, the legendary Seo Yi Kang (Jun Ji Hyun) revealed the reason for her comeback.

Veteran ranger and chief Jo Dae Jin (Sung Dong-Il) tells her that he has found a spot for her at the headquarters. This is because he knew she had a terrible experience at Jirisan, where she almost got killed.

However, she disagreed being transferred and got honest with their head.

She tells the park ranger chief that someone is sending her a signal from up the mountain and says that she needs to find who's behind it.

Seo Yi Kang's Past + Kang Hyun Jo's Vision

"Jirisan" episode 2 gave the audience a glimpse of Seo Yi Kang's past and the reason why Jirisan has a special place in her heart.

One of the rangers mentioned to Kang Hyun Jo (Ju Ji Hoon) that a devastating accident hit Mount Jirisan where 100 rescuers and civilians died, including Yi Kang's father.

A flashback of her grandmother weeping beside his father's corpse was featured, illustrating that at the time, Seo Yi Kang was in shock to see her father's body lifeless and inside a body bag.

Instead of celebrating and commemorating the dead, she went to her favorite place but was followed by the park ranger newbie.

Here, Kang Hyun Jo also spoke about coming across Kim Min Ho, who is said to be the son of a missing person who entered the park a year ago.

He told Seo Yi Kang that he wanted to help the son find his father, but she advised him to turn over the matter to the police.

However, he is eager to solve the case after seeing a vision while on the top of the mountain. Hyun Jo saw a large pine tree, yellow ribbons and a bloodied hand.

Seo Yi Kang Doubts Kang Hyun Jo's Mission

As the park ranger rookie alongside the victim's son traversed the ridges and searched for the missing father, Seo Yi Kang learned more about the missing hiker.

According to the police, the victim only has a daughter. Piquing her interest and following her hunch, she visited the daughter's place and asked for information regarding her father.

The daughter tells Yi Kang that someone forced her father to illegally transport the pine trees off the mountains at a hefty price. Unfortunately, his father never got paid after doing the deal.

With this, she immediately followed Hyun Jo and brought the police and her team since she knew that they would be dealing with a criminal.

In "Jirisan" episode 2, she also saw the unconscious newbie who left a signal, hinting about the suspect's possible location.

The team successfully captured the culprit and was able to hand over the remains of the man to his daughter.

Lee Da Won Sees a Mysterious Man at Mount Jirisan

Fast forward to 2020 when Lee Da Won (Go Min Si) was given a task by Seo Yi Kang about putting up a signal.

After successfully fulfilling her first task from the legendary park ranger, she saw a mysterious-looking man who was covered with blood.

"Jirisan" episode 2 hints that the man might be Kang Hyun Jo.
