Jang Hyuk spoke about his exciting character for his upcoming film "Tomb of the River."
The 44-year-old star will surely surprise fans with his three-dimensional villain role named Min Seok.
Helmed by director Yoon Young Bin, the new action crime movie is based on a novel of the same name written by Bang Jin Ho.
It focuses on the conspiracy, betrayal, and ambitions of a retired professional killer and his life-changing goal.
However, after finally getting out of the organization, he gets caught up in a case while trying to protect a teenage girl he suddenly becomes in charge.
Jang Hyuk Plays the Villain in 'Tomb of the River'
Far from his usual character, the South Korean actor discusses his experience acting in a noir genre.
He shares that the movie revolves around "human relationships" that highlight the characters' "loneliness that comes from a broken sense of solidarity."
As for portraying a three-dimensional role, he describes Min Seok as an "axis of evil," saying that he has this ruthless villain exterior, but deep inside, he harbors this different kind of persona.
"Even though he is a villain, he does not feel vaguely as a villain, but I interpreted it so that one can think that this person's inner state is a person who is trapped in a ship.

Jang Hyuk on the Heart-Stopping Action Scenes
The "Tell me What You Saw" star also detailed his experience performing his stunts, mainly using a knife in most of his scenes.
He says that the training and filming went smoothly and did not need major adjustments on his part because he has been doing action movies and series for quite a while.
"Basically, the sword technique was not very difficult because I had been training for action for a long time."
To recall, Jang Hyuk mentioned in his 2020 interview that he also does his own stunts.
During his appearance in KBS2's "Weekly Entertainment Live," he revealed what made him decide not to have doubles on his action scenes.
He explained that at the time when he was shooting for his 1998 movie "Zzang," he witnessed how the stuntman got hurt in an accident, adding, "After seeing that happen, I've tried to do all my action scenes myself."

The action star mentioned his thoughts working alongside Yoo Oh Sung, who is also his co-star in the historical Kdrama "The Merchant: Gaekju 2015."
He says that he is comfortable working and feels the synergy with "The Veil" actor since he is an expert in this kind of genre.
In the 2015 KBS series, Jang Hyuk played the role of an influential merchant named Chun Bong Sam, while Yoo Oh Sung took on the part of Gil So Gae.

Apart from his upcoming movie, "Tomb of the River," the 44-year-old star is confirmed to appear in a new historical drama titled "Red Single Heart."
He will play Park Kye Won, a powerful personality during the time of the Joseon Dynasty.
