Ji Yi Soo on New Role in Upcoming Melodrama 'Sponsor'
"When the Camellia Blooms" star Ji Yi Soo challenges herself with a new lead role in the upcoming iHQ melodrama "Sponsor," alongside big stars Lee Ji Hoon, Han Chae Young and Goo Ja Sung.
In the drama, Ji Yi Soo plays the role of Park Da Som, an aspiring actress who is trapped in her personal struggle to save her son who has been suffering from an incurable disease. She is paired with Goo Ja Sung, who plays the role of her husband and rising star Hyun Seung Hoon.
According to the actress, she was drawn to the drama after reading the script. She described the script as "a well-written, appealing, honest and shocking drama."
Interestingly, Ji Yi Soo says that she somehow resonates with Park Da Som, "We're similar in a way that we're both very patient. I'm the type to exert a lot of effort to make the people around me become comfortable. However, Park Da Som is cold and firm."

"Although she appears strong and haughty, she is fragile and has emotional wounds," Ji Yi Soo continued.

Comparing Park Da Som to Jessica or Park Sang Mi, Ji Yi Soo's lead acting role in the award-winning hit series "When the Camellia Blooms," the actress said, "Jessica is young and clueless, so she makes a lot of mistakes and oftentimes faces struggles when it comes to expressing her thoughts and opinions."
"However, Park Da Som is strong, bold and determined. She doesn't think twice when expressing her emotions, and she always delivers her words with conviction," Ji Yi Soo continued.
She concludes with a message for the viewers, "I hope you enjoy watching "Sponsor" as we worked hard on filming the drama. Please give it a lot of interest and support."
