The team first rescued the former Jirisan commander Kim Kye Hee and cable car owner Yang Geun Tak who got severely injured in the flash flood.
The two went down with Kang Hyun Jo, who got suspicious with the other hiker.
It came after he saw the male hiker wearing black gloves, which the Jirisan killer wore.
He warns Seo Yi Kang (Jun ji Hyun) about the person and tells her to radio if anything turns suspicious.
While in the woods, the female ranger gave first aid to the hiker; however, an unusual scenario happened.
After the male hiker insisted on going down, he accidentally pushed Yi Kang, making her head hit one of the big rocks.
He helped her settle in a cave and apologized for what he had done.
Here, he opens up why he never trusts any of the rescuers to tell him to wait. It is because he was among the survivors of the 1995 flood.
While telling a story about a nice couple he met back then, Yi Kang realized that it was her parents.
"He said that he wanted to be a good father," the male hiker recalled, making Seo Yi Kang realize how his father loved her.
Seo Yi Kang Opens her Past to Kang Hyun Jo
As soon as the group reached the woods, Jung Goo Young (Oh Jung Se) and one other ranger helped the hiker descend from the mountain.
It was only Kang Hyun Jo and his seniors who were left at the cave.
Here, he noticed that Yi Kang was quiet and sobbing in a corner.
Hyun Jo found out that the hiker was with her parents on the day of the incident.
Far from her usual persona, the rookie ranger saw Yi Kang's vulnerable side as she told her how she misses her mother and father.
Will This be Lee Yang Sun's First and Last Mission?
After almost successfully wrapping up the rescue, Yi Kang's grandmother came with food from the ritual.
However, little did they know that they were about to receive devastating news.
The park rangers were happy and gave their support for Lee Yang Sun on her first resume mission; unfortunately, things went south when they heard a scream from her radio.
"Jirisan" episode 13 hints at a possible attack from the serial killer.
