"The Pirates: Goblin Flag" unveils its first trailer featuring lead stars Kang Ha Neul, Han Hyo Joo, EXO's Sehun, Lee Kwang Soo and more.

The much-anticipated movie is the second installment from the 2014 film "The Pirates," which stars Kim Nam Gil and Son Ye Jin.

'The Pirates: Goblin Flag' Trailer + Meet the Cast

The historical adventure film showed a sneak peek through its first trailer, sparking excitement from fans looking forward to watching the movie.

"The Pirates: Goblin Flag" entices fans with its stunning cinematography and the impressive lineup of the cast.

In the clip, a group of pirates embark on a challenging journey in hopes of finding the treasure of Goryeo's empire after disappearing without a trace.

Kang Ha Neul and Han Hyo Joo don a worried expression as the group is faced with a massive wave and harsh weather, signaling an upcoming danger.

In the upcoming film, "When the Camellia Blooms," star acts as Woo Moo Chi, the upright outlaws' leader, dubbing himself as Goryeo's first sword Uijeongbu commander.

The "L.U.C.A: The Beginning" star Kim Seung Oh will be Woo Moo Chi's right hand Kang Seop.

Han Hyo Joo plays the ship's private captain, Hae Rang, alongside her trusty sub-captain pirate Ah Gwi, played by Park Ji Hwan.

"The Pirates: Goblin Flag" trailer also shows off Lee Kwang Soo's character Mak Yi as one of the pirates whose dream is to become a pirate king someday.

The teaser also transformed Kwon Sang Woo into the rebel Bu Heing Soo, who's eager to battle other pirates to secure the hidden treasure.

Interestingly, fans would get to see EXO's Sehun on a whole new level as the singer-actor flaunts his archery skills, depicting the role of sharpshooter Han Goong.

Chae Soo Bin joins the cast as con artist Hae Geum, who boldly joined the group for excitement and the hidden treasure.

Helmed by the "Accidental Detective" director Kim Jung Hoon and written by Chun Sung Il, who penned "The Pirates" and "L.U.C.A.: The Beginning," the much-awaited "The Pirates: Goblin Flag" is set to hit the big screen in January 2022.

Prior to the release of its official trailer and character posters, the cast lineup was announced in June 2020, stimulating curiosity towards the anticipated sequel.

At the time, Lotte Entertainment", the film's distributor, announced the final casting with its star-studded cast, revealing that the production would start in July.

Kim Nam Gil Turns Down 'The Pirates' Sequel

The upcoming movie is the installment for the 2014 movie "The Pirates" that garnered millions of audience during its release.

However, during the process of finalizing the cast, rumor sparked that Kim Nam Gil turned down to appear and reprise his role as the bandit, Jang Sa Jung.

At the time, Lotte Entertainment confirmed the reports but denied that the production was halted.

"It's true that Kim Nam Gil, who starred in 'The Pirates', refused to appear in the sequel," the company said, adding that they plan on adjusting the shooting process.
