The renowned actor candidly discusses his thoughts about the public's mixed reactions and boldly accepts the opinions from the viewers- may it be good or bad.

He noted that "Squid Game" might affect how the public perceived the series as it set the bar high for K-contents.

"It was quite burdensome because the world's interest in Korean Wave content increased due to the Squid Game," he said, adding that he sees the dislikes and likes from the viewers as "natural" but noted that he should take it calmly and constructively.

"I keep reflecting on what I missed as a producer," he added.

To recall, the South Morning China Post, a Hong Kong-based English-language newspaper, did a review about "The Silent Sea" and dubbed it as "the latest fail" attempting to cover a sci-fi genre.

The review cited the Netflix series fell short with the storyline as it featured a "dull narrative, drearily repetitive environments and lack of characterization."

On the contrary, Forbes named Gong Yoo and Bae Doona's Kdrama as "one of the best sci-fi series to date," noting the sci-fi series displayed an impressive "production value and script" as well as having an "extremely refined production."

Jung Woo Sung on Turning the Short Film to a Six-Part Episode Kdrama

"The Silent Sea" is based on the short film "The Sea of Tranquility" written by and directed by Choi Hang Yong.

Jung Woo Song admitted that turning it into a full-blown series is quite a challenge.

"I would like to say that everything was a challenge. Everything was the first shot. So, it was like starting off from level zero, and everything had to be done on a trial and error basis," he mentioned during the show's global premiere.

As for responsibilities as the executive producer, the 48-year-old A-lister thinks that taking the producer's job was a fun challenge adding it gave him "some space to maneuver and it gave me some freedom so I could take some bold decisions."

In a separate interview, lead stars Bae Doona and Gong Yoo lauded how hands-on Jung Woo Sung is on the set and regularly came to the filming location.

"It's the first time I've seen a producer who works so hard," the "Kingdom" actress said.

True enough, Netflix Korea shared a glimpse of Jung Woo Sung on the set of "The Silent Sea" holding a broom, making sure that cast and crew won't leave any footprints on their "moon base."
