Kang Ha Neul dishes out his experience filming "The Pirates 2" as well as his working relationship with cop-stars, especially Han Hyo Joo.

Ahead of the much-awaited sequel, "The Pirates: Goblin Flag," the 31-year-old heartthrob talks about his role as Moo Chi and the transformation he did for the character.

Kang Ha Neul's Surprising Revelation About his 'The Pirates 2' Role

During his interview with News 1, Kang Ha Neul shared that he "really enjoyed" watching genres relating to this, especially the 2014 "The Pirates" with Son Ye Jin and Kim Nam Gil as well as the American films like "Pirates of the Caribbean" with Johnny Depp and more.

"I like the adventure genre. When I read the script, I wanted to get on the pirate ship. I really admired the role of Hae Rang. I thought it would be fun to bicker back and forth with her," he said.

In the upcoming movie, the "When the Camellia Blooms," star ditched his usual boy next door look as he took on the role of the bandit leader.

Interestingly, Kang Ha Neul looked unrecognizable with his tanned skin and unusual hairstyle.

As the interview continues, he revealed that the most challenging part of playing the character of Moo Chi is his hairstyle.

Surprisingly, the actor needs to perm his hair every two weeks to achieve a rugged look.

"The perm was the most difficult part of playing Moo Chi. I had to get a perm about once every two weeks, and each time took a long time, about three to four hours. It was really tough to go to the salon every two weeks and sit there for four hours," he said.

Besides the perming part, the award-winning actor says that washing his hair was another challenging part.

"When I was filming, the perm was so tight that it wouldn't get wet when I washed my hair. I had to force the water into my hair. In the end, my hair was falling off at the ends."

Despite his hair transformation, Kang Ha Neul enjoyed the overall experience, especially playing the role of the bandit leader.

He explained that Moo Chi reminds him of the Korean movie "The Ruler of the Land's" Han Bi Kwang as they both have free-spirited personalities and are good at fighting skills but are kind of clumsy.
