South Korea never fails to entertain viewers with thriller yet somehow realistic films like the 2013 film "The Flu" starring Jang Hyuk and Park Soo Ae.
Nine years after it was released, who would have thought we are now in almost the same scenario as the action thriller K-movie.
Helmed and written by Kim Sung Soo, who is also the genius behind the "City of the Rising Sun" and "The Warriors," "The Flu" is a disaster film illustrating how South Korea became the epicenter of an airborne virus called the H5N1 epidemic.
The health crisis brought confusion among the citizens and showed how the chaos brought massive tension to the government.
Histrionic virologist Kim In Hae, played by Park Soo Ae, played a significant part in containing the virus after creating a vaccine that would control the spread of the disease.
On the other hand, "The Flu" also featured her special encounter with Emergency Rescue Team officer Kang Ji Goo, portrayed by Jang Hyuk.

Jang Hyuk (Kang Ji Goo)
During the health crisis, the 45-year-old star portrayed the knight in shining armor of Kim In Hae and her daughter, Kim Mi Reu.
"The Flu" was among Jang Hyuk's movies in 2013 aside from "IRIS 2: The Movie."
With almost nine years since it aired and a slew of notable k dramas and movies under his belt, the award-winning star is set to headline an action movie, "A Child Who Can Die," with GWSN's Anne and Bang Eun Jung.

In addition, Jang Hyuk is also making a comeback to the small screen after two years with an upcoming Kdrama "Red Single Heart" with Lee Joon and Kang Ha Na.
Park Soo Ae (Kim In Hae)
After starring in "The Flu," Park Soo Ae landed a lead role in Kdrama "Queen of Ambition" followed by the psychological romance series "Mask."
Interestingly, she also made a comeback with JTBC's "Artificial City" and took on the character of Yoon Jae Hee, Space Jin and Sung Jin Cultural Foundation's head.
Ma Dong Seok (Jun Gook Hwan)
Unlike his iconic role in "Train to Busan," where he portrays the doting husband and soon-to-be father, Ma Dong Seok played the antagonist in "The Flu."
Interestingly, the South Korean star, also known as Don Lee, is making his way in Hollywood after appearing as Gilgamesh in "The Eternals."
Moreover, his 2022 is booked and busy with a ton of movies this year.
He is confirmed to appear in the upcoming movie with Girls' Generation Seohyun in "Holy Night: Demon Hunters," and the webtoon-based action film "The Wilderness" with Lee Jun Young and Roh Jeong Eui.
