'Twenty Five, Twenty One' Plot, Cast

Coming-of-age drama "Twenty Five, Twenty One," set in 1998, tells the youthful journey of Baek Yi Jin (Nam Joo Hyuk) and Na Hee Do (Kim Tae Ri) who met each other when they were 22 and 18 years old. Both experience ups and downs in life, but despite this, they promise to pursue happiness together. Later on, they develop special feelings for each other.

The drama also depicts the story of how Koreans struggled during the IMF crisis, and highlights the youth and the turning point in their lives.

As she returns on the small screen, Kim Tae Ri takes the role of reckless but optimistic Na Hee Do, a high school student who does everything to make her dream come true, and that is to become a professional fencer.

Due to the IMF crisis, her former school disbanded the fencing team, but it didn't stop her from pursuing what she wanted.

She tried every plan that she had to be transferred to another school, particularly where her idol and fencing gold medalist Go Yu Rim studies and trains.

In the beginning of the series, the story was a flashback of their youthful years which was written in Na Hee Do's diary. It is where her plans in life and treasured memories were kept.

The diary holds an important part in the drama. Na Hee Do's daughter discovered it in her mom's room.

But did you know? That the diary used in the series is actually owned by "Twenty Five, Twenty One" lead star Kim Tae Ri!

Yes, you read it right. She said during the drama's press conference that since she and co-star Bona learned fencing from the same teacher, she decided to start writing a diary.

According to her, "I got angry because I kept on losing, (against Bona during training), so I researched and wrote a diary every day. The diary that I wrote was actually used as Na Hee Do's journal in the drama."

Apart from her creativity to make her own journal, Kim Tae Ri did a lot of preparation for her character and made sure that she embodies Na Hee Do's personality well.

In fact, she trained for six months in order to immerse herself in fencing. She also learned a lot of lessons from a real-life fencing gold medalist. She went beyond the expectations of others and Kim Tae Ri proves that her drama is indeed worth the wait.

She also has a strong and natural chemistry with her leading man Nam Joo Hyuk, whom she got mesmerized with because of his visuals.
