"Tomorrow" directors Kim Tae Yoon and Seong Chi Wook, get honest as they talk about the upcoming action fantasy K-drama and lead stars Lee Soo Hyuk, SF9's Rowoon, Kim Hee Sun and Yoon Ji On.
The MBC's new series is drawing the attention of viewers due to its stunning cast lineup and thrilling visuals.
The 16-part episode series is based on the popular webtoon created by Llama, which follows the story of a group of grim rippers.
Struggling to find a job, Choi Joon Woong, played by SF9's Rowoon, encountered a tragic accident and met Goo Ryeon and Im Ryoog Gu, portrayed by Kim Hee Sun and Yoon Ji On, working for the crisis management team, a.k.a angels of death.
He then becomes the newest member of the group and works together to save the lives of those who are considering ending their lives.
The crisis management team crosses paths with Park Joong Gil, played by Lee Soo Hyuk, Guiding Management Team's elite leader.
'Tomorrow' Directors Reveals Why They Chose the Webtoon Series as their Next Project
During their interview with Herald Pop, the two filmmakers explained why they chose to create the webtoon into a K-drama.
Director Seong Chi Wook shared that the warmth and message of "Tomorrow" struck him the most, adding that the "chemistry of the crisis management team and the characters are both "interesting."
The same goes for Director Kim Tae Yoon, who pointed out that the storyline was exceptional, noting that the subject delivers "emotional" value.
The "Tomorrow" director also expressed their expectation for the upcoming K-drama, saying that they are hopeful that the sincerity conveyed in the webtoon will also transpire in the series, adding, "I hope it will be an opportunity to sympathize with the pain of those who are struggling in the present and being more interested in their "Tomorrow,'"

Aside from the message of the whole story, the directors also revealed that they added interesting factors such as visual elements through CGI to "further amplify the fun and emotion of the original."

As the interview continues, the "Tomorrow" directors revealed why they chose the actors to portray their characters.
Seong Chi Wook mentioned that he focused on "character synchronization" and lauded that "the actors also paid a lot of attention and worked hard" for their respective characters.
As director Kim Tae Yoon said, he teased fans by saying that Kim Hee Sun "made a big visual change" for the upcoming K-drama. At the same time, SF9's Rowoon totally resembled his character and praised the actor for showing Choi Joon Woong's unique energy.
"Tomorrow" release date is set on March 25, airing via MBC and Netflix.
