The rookie actress gained public attention after her impressive portrayal of juvenile offender Baek Sung Woo.
Amid the hype of the 10-episode series, supporting actors like Lee Yeon added more depth and emotions to the law drama.
"Juvenile Justice" follows the story of elite judge Sim Eun Seok, played by Kim Hye Soo. She is known in the courtroom for being ruthless and vocal about how she despises young offenders, especially those who never showed any resentment.
Lee Yeon on Her Transformation as 14-year-old Baek Sung Woo
In her interview with Sports Chosun, the 28-year-old rookie actress spoke about her portrayal as a juvenile offender.
Lee Yeon looked unrecognizable in the Netflix series as she played 14-year-old Baek Sung Woo.
The actress revealed that she has to gain 5kg to look like her character. Apart from it, Lee Yeon shared that she had to bind her upper body to perfectly portray the teenage accomplice.
Another thing that she had to consider was her voice. Since Baek Sung Woo is an adolescent, she revealed that she didn't alter the tone of her voice that much but focused more on her appearance and how she delivers every scene.
Lee Yeon appeared in "Juvenile Justice" episodes 1 and 2, and also made a re-appearance on the final episode, hinting that Baek Sung Woo returns as an offender and is set to face a trial.
She tells the media outlet that she unintentionally shed a lot of weight throughout the filming as the shoot reached its second half.

Following the global release of "Juvenile Justice," viewers got curious about the cast, including Lee Yeon.
Fans were stunned to hear that Baek Sung Woo was portrayed by a 28-year-old actress, lauding her for her stellar performance.
Lee Yeon 'Honored' to Work With Kim Hye Soo
Aside from her major transformation, Lee Yeon also gained praise from the viewers and her co-star Kim Hye Soo.
She said that it was an "honor" to work with her in the drama and complimented her for her acting, adding, "I am so grateful, and I think I have to work even harder."
The rookie actress went on to reveal her working relationship with the award-winning star, saying that she "acts comfortably" around her.
In addition, the 28-year-old actress says that she was able to do better on the set and perfectly play her role because of Kim Hye Soo.
Lee Yeon began her career in 2018 when she appeared in the movie "Ignorance."
As for her small screen debut, she joined the cast of Netflix's "D.P" and played Jung Hae In's younger sister.
Interestingly, after "Juvenile Justice," she is reportedly cast as one of the lead stars in the upcoming independent film "Cosmos.
