Viewers are drawn to series featuring A-listers who are known for their stellar performances. Unfortunately, not all star-studded cats achieve positive responses from the public.

These K-dramas include veterans, award-winning stars, and Hallyu celebrities but failed to meet the audience's expectations hence the poor rating.

Here's a rundown of recent K-dramas that received low ratings on IMDb.

'The Silent Sea' 6.9 / 10

The Silent Sea
Netflix Korea

The Netflix sci-fi series boasts a roster of top actors, including Gong Yoo, Bae Doona, Lee Joon, Kim Sun Young from "Crash Landing on You," as well as Lee Moo Saeng from "Thirty-Nine." However, "The Silent Sea" still garnered 6.9 out of 10 scores on the platform.

Released on December 24, 2021, the eight-part episode series follows the story of a group of space explorers who have a 24-hour mission to bring back samples from an abandoned research facility located in what they call the "silent sea."

Based on the comments on IMDb, viewers are disappointed with the predictable plot despite having a star-studded cast lineup.

'Hellbound' 6.6/10

Hellbound
Netflix Korea

One of the highly anticipated K-dramas in 2021 is the mystery thriller series "Hellbound," which stars Yoo Ah In, Kim Hyun Joo, Yang Ik Jun, Won Jin Ah, and Park Jung Min.

The Netflix series focuses on the supernatural phenomenon where creatures from hell caused mayhem on earth.

The religious group, The New Truth, influenced people to believe in the false hope of saving one's self from being condemned by evil.

Yoo Ah In plays The New Truth founder Jung Jin Soo while Kim Hyun Joo and Yang Ik Jun take the role of police detectives who wants to break the group's twisted faith.

While "hellbound" gained hype on social media at the time of its release, it received unfavorable ratings on IMDb, noting that the story was at a "slow pace" and "too much drama."

'Love Alarm' 6.8 /10

Love Alarm 2
Netflix Korea

Another Netflix original gains disappointment from IMDb users as Song Kang and Kim So Hyun's "Love Alarm" scores 6.8 out of 10 ratings.

Viewers pointed out that the cast lineup and their performances were "really good," but the only downside was the storyline noting that it was "too predictable and common in Korean dramas."

'Now, We Are Breaking Up' 6.2/10

Fans patiently waited for the comeback K-drama of Song Hye Kyo as she headlines the cast of "Now, We Are Breaking Up."

In the romance series, the Hallyu star is paired with rising actor Jang Ki Yong.

Despite the unique casting of these two, the SBS K-drama garnered 6.2 out of 10 scores, a pretty low rating given the series stars Song Hye Kyo.

Based on the comments, there's "nothing special" about the drama and they even pointed out how the female lead has the same expressions throughout the entire season.
