Just like any other aspiring singer, she had to undergo training, but Kang So Yeon, who was in her 20s at the time, was a trainee for five years.
After being launched as the only female member of WE, they were able to release "one mini-album and one regular album" with their hit songs "Rainy" and "Party."
Moreover, the 34-year-old beauty mentioned that most of their fans were foreigners; hence they called them WE-gookin, which means "WE-foreigners."
"When we'd perform on a music show, those who were holding our placard were foreigners," she added.
Unfortunately, after a short stint in the music scene, WE disbanded.
As for Kang So Yeon, she said that they "did have fun while it lasted," unfortunately, the company, Stone Music Entertainment and formerly CJ E&M Music, "wasn't in a situation where we could continue to make albums."
Years later, she returned not as a singer but as a reality show contestant, which helped her skyrocket her career.
She is among the 12 participants of Netflix's reality dating show "Single's Inferno" and was teamed up with the hottie Jin Taek.
Kang So Yeon was praised for her mature way of dealing with things on the island.
In addition, after the reality tv show ended its first season, the 34-year-old beauty was once again lauded by netizens for "breaking Korean beauty standards' after she graced Vogue Thailand and Maxim.
Apart from being a reality star, Kang So Yeon is also a successful entrepreneur and owns a boxing gym.
Adding to the list of her achievement is her return to the music industry with a new single.
