In JTBC's "Insider" Episodes 1-4, judicial trainee Kim Yo Han (Kang Ha Neul) is trapped in an illegal undercover operation. As the story progresses, he gets betrayed by his colleagues. He decides for revenge.

'Insider' Episode 1: Kim Yo Han Goes Undercover

His goal was to have a successful life, so judicial apprentice Kim Yo Han put effort into everything he does. One day, he was assigned in an undercover operation by Noh Young Guk (Yoo Jae Myung) and Mok Jin Hyung (Kim Sang Ho).

He already refused to participate as it was illegal and might cause him a lot along the way. His grandmother warned him not to engage himself in it. Jin Hyung suspended the plan, but Young Guk still had a strong desire to pursue it.

The following day, Mok Jin Hyung was murdered in an assailant attack. Noh Young Guk convinced Yo Han to do undercover in order to live. The judicial apprentice then became a murder suspect.

'Insider' Episode 2: Noh Young Guk Betrays Kim Yo Han

With the thought that Young Guk will help him out of prison, Kim Yo Han felt hopeless when Mr. Noh betrayed and abandoned him.

He followed what the people around him told him to do, but the junior apprentice remained in jail. He then had the chance to contact his grandmother Shin Dal Su (Ye Soo Jung) and asked if she could visit him.

Without him knowing, Shin Dal Su was harmed by Jo Ha Do. Luckily, Oh Su Yeon (Lee You Young) was by her side to give her comfort. However, the next day, Yo Han was shocked by the news that his grandma was dead. He was released for a moment to attend her burial. The investigation said it was suicide, but he knew that someone was behind it.

He then overheard Noh Young Guk's conversation with Hong Hae Sun. There, he found out that Young Guk had betrayed him.

'Insider' Episode 3: Kim Yo Han Meets Jang Sun Oh, Helps Him With Game Tricks

In jail, there is a gang led by Jang Sun Oh (Kang Young Seok). He is known for gambling, particularly at playing cards. Yo Han tried to play but failed on his first attempt. With no family and only revenge in mind, the junior apprentice asked for another chance to learn the game.

After continued practice, Yo Han succeeded and got consistent in winning the card game. Jang Sun Oh then started pestering Yo Han to advance into the second league. Thanks to him, Yo Han was able to sit with experienced gamblers. When he was already on the verge of losing, Sun Oh came to save him from the game.

As he continued to observe, Yo Han discovered that Jang Sun Oh was teaching him tricks in the game to win against the opponent smoothly. Due to their newfound relationship, a great alliance was born.

'Insider' Episode 4: Kim Yo Han and Jang Sun Oh Form Alliance

Jang Sun Oh and Kim Yo Han shared their plans once they get released from prison. Sun Oh wants to rule the gambling field in Korea, and he needs someone he can trust. He wants it to be Yo Han as he sees potential in him.

The junior apprentice, on the other hand, shared he wants revenge for his grandma's death and to let those people who betrayed him pay for what they did. The two then became closer. Sun Oh even upgraded Yo Han's cell into a spacious one. But the gang leader was not happy with their newfound friendship.

He tasked Yo Han to stab Sun Oh, but he refused since he's the only person he can trust at the moment. Yo Han continued to learn from Sun Oh and became smarter in playing tricks with people.

The new alliance between Sun Oh and Yo Han was formed.
