Park Hae Soo Reveals Honest Thoughts on Playing Berlin
Park Hae Soo, who has appeared in many popular Netflix series "Squid Game" and "Money Heist Korea," talks about his acting role, preparations and more.
In the drama, Park Hae Soo takes on the role of Berlin, the right hand man of the Professor (Yoo Ji Tae), who leads the biggest heist in the history of the Korean Peninsula.
When asked why he chose to star as Berlin, Park Hae Soo bares his soul and confesses that he was hesitant to accept the offer.
"I saw the original Spanish series when the news of a South Korean remake was not in discussion," Park Hae Soo shared. "I loved the series but the thought of being in the remake never crossed my mind."
He also said, "When I was asked to play the role of Berlin, I felt extremely pressured. There was a lot of work that I was discouraged by. Eventually, I did it."
Park Hae Soo exerted a lot of effort prior to filming, and even met up with a teacher from Pyongyang and practiced the North Korean dialect.
Through this, the actor felt more culturally adept, which satiated his thirst for perfection. In particular, his portrayal of Berlin is well-lauded by fans in both the domestic and international scene.
Park Hae Soo on Being Nicknamed As 'Netflix's Son'
Because of the slew of multiple projects Park Hae Soo did with Netflix Korea, many fans and colleagues gave him a new moniker, "Netflix's Son."
Although witty and flattering, Park Hae Soo politely shrugs the nickname as he deems he's "too old to be a son."
"I'm very honored to have a great relationship with Netflix," he stated. "But I am more grateful to meet viewers with such amazing works."
Just last year, Park Hae Soo starred in the worldwide hit series "Squid Game." In 2022, he appeared in the espionage film "Yaksha: Ruthless Operations" before finally being cast in "Money Heist Korea."

Park Hae Soo hopes to appear in the small screen with works with Netflix in the future.
'Money Heist Korea': Hit or Miss?
Despite the success of the series, some fans still criticized the work. Park Hae Soo isn't fazed with any of these.
He said, "It's a remake so it's obvious that many fans will be divided by their opinions. However, I have no regrets."
"Even if they like or dislike the work, I'm still thankful that they made time to watch the series which allowed me to show my skills as an actor," Park Hae Soo added.
