'Money Heist Korea' Writer Extends Gratitude To Fans
"Money Heist Korea" instantaneously becomes an international hit, all thanks to the excellence of the actors, director and writer who helmed the series to perfection!
The new Netflix release is the remake of the Spanish series of the same name which centers around the biggest heist in history, starring Yoo Ji Tae, Park Hae Soo, Jeon Jong Seo, Kim Yun Jin, Kim Ji Hoon and more.
A week after the release of the series, "Money Heist Korea" writer Ryu Young Jae expresses his gratitude to every viewer who supported the series from the very beginning.
Ryu Young Jae's sole purpose in creating the drama is to make every country appreciate Asian works and allow them to learn about the culture through consumable media.
In particular, the writer describes the feeling of receiving acclaim and recognition as "rewarding."
Ryu Young Jae Reveals Reasons For Creating 'Joint Economic Area'
Like the cast of the South Korean remake, writer Ryu Young Jae is a fan of the original Spanish series. His love for the series motivated him to curate the South Korean version of the drama with an improved plot.
Ryu Young Jae didn't originally want to change anything from the original series, but the incorporation of South Korean symbolisms and culture came in naturally.
"Like the unification of the North and South, as well as Tokyo's background, they needed to be changed in order to tell our own story," he said.
The addition of Kim Seong Oh, a North Korean police officer in the task force, the Hahoe masks, as well as the unification of South and North Koreas-which are not found in the origins series-were included in the remake.

With that said, Ryu Young Jae sees this as an opportunity rather than a burden as the production unit of the series worked happily and filled with enthusiasm.
'Money Heist Korea' To Change Storylines in Season 2
Unlike the original series, "Money Heist Korea" upholds an idealist perspective on revolution. While the Spanish series screams resistance, the remake accepts that it's difficult to create an uprising.
Thus, the gang of North and South Korean robbers create history to alleviate corruption and poverty as the two Koreas unify to form a better government and economy.
Many fans and viewers of the series stated their strong dislike due to the difference of the remake from the series.
"We knew that reactions would be divided but we risked it," the writer said. "Everyone including the cast were all anticipating how things will turn out."
According to Ryu Young Jae, "Money Heist Korea" is a work that will naturally divide reactions and opinions.
However, the production unit is ready to take risks that could make or break "Money Heist Korea." Their end goal is to further send a stronger message through their own story.
