As the drama draws to a close, it's time to think about why it was so enjoyable. There were at least seven reasons to watch beyond the romance and the star-studded cast.
Here are some of the events and relationships in "The Heirs" that make the drama memorable:
1. The frenemy relationship between Lee Min Ho and Kim Woo Bin. While they may hate each other for most of this drama, viewers can tell they really want to resume being friends. The alienating course their lives took was in part shaped by their ceasing to be friends. The fact that they care about the same girl ultimately oddly brings them closer and helps them become better people.
2. The relationship between Choi Jin Hyuk and Lee Min Ho is poisonous because the interference of various family members and the struggle for control of the company. They have not been encouraged to prize their relationship but despite this, by the drama's end they may recognize how important they are to each other.
3. Chan Young, played by Kang Min Hyuk, and Bo Na, played by Krystal, are an improbable but adorable couple. Kang Min Hyuk can't help but smile when Krystal's name is mentioned, even off set.
"She's seriously so cute in what she does that when I'm acting, I naturally laugh," said Kang Min Hyuk.
4. And speaking of cute, how adorable is Myung Soo? We know this is attributed at least in part to his acting skills as ZE:A's Park Hyung Sik was far more serious in his role as the young Lee Jin Wook in "Nine."
5. The way Kim Woo Bin looks at Park Shin Hye. You can measure his transformation from heartless bully to her dark knight in the way he looks at her. After each successive encounter he becomes more vulnerable and seems less evil.
6. Kim Tan telling his prospective fiancée's family about his real mom. Secrets can be poisonous and once that secret becomes public knowledge there's no longer any need for him to cower in fright. For most of the early episodes he looks as if his mother annoys him and she can be annoying. But when he stands up for her, she begins to see herself with some respect.
7. Kim Tan taking charge. That's the Lee Min Ho we all love. As Kim Tan he spends a lot of the drama brooding and reacting. He often seems aggressive but his dysfunctional family life no doubt makes him feel very frustrated. When he finally takes steps to defy his father and the whole crazy situation they have set him up in, he's really likeable.
