Interestingly, "Hansan: Rising Dragon" has been leading the top spot for two consecutive weeks since it premiered last July 27.

In a report cited by Star News, the Film Promotion Committee shared that the action-historical movie garnered over 1.1 million viewers during the weekend.

With this, the number added to its total viewership of 4.5 million, making "Hansan: Rising Dragon" the number one movie at the Korean box office.

For two weeks in a row, the film continued its overwhelming momentum on the big screen and was even predicted to surpass 5 million viewers within this week.

"Hansan: Rising Dragon" boasts an impressive cast lineup starting with Park Hae Il, 2PM's Taecyeon, "Kingdom" actor Kim Sung Gyu, Byun Yo Han, and more.

The box office movie is helmed and written by Kim Han Min of "The Admiral: Roaring Currents" and focuses on the 1592 Battle of Hansando, the clash that defeated Japanese naval forces off the coast of Hansando.

While "Hansan: Rising Dragon" maintains its perfect streak at the Korean box office, can Lee Jung Jae's "Hunt" and the star-studded "Emergency Declaration" surpass its reign on the top spot?

In the same report, the committee cited that "Emergency Declaration" garnered a total of 817,098 viewers during the weekend, making them second place at the box office.

Currently, the star-studded movie has a cumulative number of 1,398,285 audiences since it was released on August 3.

Award-winning actors like Park Byung Hun, Song Kang Ho, Jeon Do Yeon, Kim Nam Gil alongside K-drama heartthrob Im Si Wan and more lead the cast lineup.

"Emergency Declaration," which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2021, depicts the story of an airplane terrorist attack while on route to Hawaii.

The highly anticipated aviation disaster flick is directed by Han Jae Rim, the man behind the upcoming K-drama "Money."

It is worth noting that "Emergency Declaration" will be a tough competitor of "Hansan: Rising Dragon" as the movie continues to rave good reviews from the public.

'Hunt'

As the Korean box office continues the tight race for the top spot, Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung's espionage action movie "Hunt" will join the lead as it will be officially released on August 10.

In a separate report cited by Star News, the upcoming movie ranked first in the reservation rate two days before its theatrical debut.

As of August 8, "Hunt" has a total of 73,993 pre-orders or 23.7 percent, while "Hansan: Rising Dragon" got 23 percent during its pre-premiere.

With this, Lee Jung Jae's directorial debut is predicted to join the race in the Big 4 of Korean movies this summer and might surpass the action-historical movie when it officially made its debut.
