Following a successful premiere, Joo Won's new movie "Carter" made it to Netflix's global top 10 charts. Released on August 5, the 34-year-old star did not disappoint viewers with his action-packed movie about a skilled agent named Carter.

According to streaming data aggregator platform, Flix Patrol, the action thriller film soared to the second spot in Netflix's top 10 movies making it one of the currently most watched films on the streaming platform.

Based on the chart dated August 7, "Carter" is next to Sofia Carson and Nicholas Galitzine's romantic film "Purple Hearts" which topped the chart since it premiered on July 29.

As for Joo Won's movie, it is currently the number one movie in 18 countries including the Bahamas, Turkey, Taiwan, Vietnam, South Korea, Singapore, The Philippines, Malaysia, and more.

Directed and written by Jung Byung Gil of "Confession of Murder" and "The Villainess" the Netflix movie follows the story of agency Carter who woke up one day without any trace of his past and even his identity.

His mission is to stop a mutant virus from spreading by rescuing a scientist's daughter.

With this, he is following orders from the voice coming from the scar on the back of his head. Being a ticking time bomb, he had no choice but to adhere to whatever task he is given despite not knowing what is happening around him.

In "Carter" Joo Woon transformed into a fighting machine as he flawlessly delivered a series of heart-stopping action stunts and combat scenes.

Interestingly, this is his comeback to the big screen 7 years after he headlines the 2015 movie "Fatal Intuition" with Yoo Hae In and ​​Lee Yoo Young.

In March of 2021, Netflix confirmed that Joo Won is chosen to star in the action-espionage blockbuster and play the titular role of Carter.

From then on, the 34-year-old star geared up for his movie comeback by doing intense training and workouts.

At the press conference ahead of the movie's premiere, Joo Won revealed how he prepared for the demanding scenes in "Carter."

As obtained by a media outlet, the actor revealed that he bulked up and gained 7kg and even shaved his head as he veered away from the boy next door image.

On top of it, he sported fake tattoos all over his body to portray the character.

Aside from the physical appearance, he also did four months of training and had to prepare himself by following a strict diet.

Interestingly, Joo Won also revealed what prompted him to take the offer.

"When I saw the script, I thought to myself, 'is this even possible?' but I wanted to try it," he said, adding, "I thought that if I could do this well, it would be an iconic part of my career. So, I decided to take on the challenge. I was really into this work."

"Carter" is among Joo Won's upcoming projects and will be followed by the upcoming film "Firemen."
