Ahead of its scheduled release, "The Forbidden Marriage" starring Kim Young Dae, Park Ju Hyun, and Kim Woo Seok attended the series press conference. Apart from the cast members giving spoilers about the series, its director shared more insights about the new sageuk.
On the afternoon of December 8, a production presentation was held at CGV Yongsan in Seoul for MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama "The Forbidden Marriage."
What Makes 'The Forbidden Marriage' Different From 'The Red Sleeve'?
Director Park Sang Woo explained the difference between his drama from Jung Ji In's "The Red Sleeve," which aired in December 2021 and ended in January 2022. According to him, he personally received help from Jung Ji In.
He continued, "As the head of this project, the burden is natural. I think our drama is more free-spirited than 'The Red Sleeve.' Viewers will be able to feel another charm because it begins with a wild imagination."

The drama's lead actress, Park Ju Hyun said, "There was no pressure from 'The Red Sleeves' because both dramas have different colors. It can overlap within the genre of historical drama, but it is still different because of the basic plot added to 'The Forbidden Marriage.'"

Meanwhile, the upcoming sageuk is based on the web novel of the same name. Ye So Rang (Park Ju Hyun), a marriage fraudster, appears in front of King Yi Heon (Kim Young Dae), who falls deep into sorrow after the death of his wife and ends up prohibiting marriage in the kingdom.
Seven years after the demise of his wife, who was then a crown princess, he meets So Rang and claims she can be possessed by the late princess's spirit. Then their chaotic journey inside the palace begins.
"The Forbidden Marriage" is set to have its much-awaited premiere on December 9 at 9:50 p.m. (KST) on MBC.
