"Physical: 100" contestant Choo Sung Hoon is among the fan-favorites in Netflix's survival-reality show, who did not just capture the hearts of viewers but also the respect of his fellow participants.
Also known as Yoshihiro Akiyama, he is a Japanese-Korean athlete who carved his name as a mixed martial artist. Along with Olympians, fitness enthusiasts, national athletes, and more, he is one of the most popular contestants and probably the oldest "Physical: 100" contestant.
Interestingly, age is the reason why Choo Sung Hoon joined the show.
Choo Sung Hoon's Highlights in 'Physical: 100'
The 47-year-old legendary MMA said that what prompted him to join the show is to prove that even a middle-aged guy like him could beat much younger athletes. Unfortunately, he didn't make it at the final challenge and admitted that he is disappointed.
"It's a pity, but this is a competition and that's the fun of it," he said, as obtained by a media outlet, adding, "I have no regrets, but I'm disappointed."
In an Instagram post, Choo Sung Hoon wrote a heartfelt letter expressing his gratitude to viewers and fans.
"I wanted to prove that people in their 40s and 50s around the world, like me, can beat young people if they work hard," he said and apologized for losing the game.
However, he pointed out that middle-age guys can still do it.
"But old men all over the world! We can still do it! Thank you so much to everyone who supported me/us."
