"The Heirs" is still number one in our best drama of the year category, but in a surprise move, "Queen of Ambition," also known as "Yawang" is gaining fast. Yesterday "Queen of Ambition" was not even in the top three. This morning it was number three and a few hours later it was up to number two. It bumped the Hong Sisters' horror romcom "The Master's Sun" from second place.
Since you can vote in the poll every day, fans of "The Heirs" should not feel confident that their favorite drama will retain the number one spot if they don't keep voting. Obviously, the "Queen of Ambition" has some enthusiastic fans.
The popularity of "Queen of Ambition" is good news for its star Kwon Sang Woo, who recently had some of the worst ratings of the year with his new drama "Medical Top Team." He should be relieved to know that his fans have not forgotten his good work in "Queen of Ambition."
In case you missed it, the drama tells the story of Joo Da Hae, a woman, who is born poor but who is determined to become the First Lady. Played by Soo Ae, she will nto let anything or anyone stand in her way. Kwon Sang Woo played Ha Ryu, the hopeless romantic who would do anything for her. But Joo Da Hae will only use him as long as she needs to. When she eventually betrays him, he is driven to seek revenge. The winter-to-spring drama was very popular, earning over 26 percent in the ratings.
Nothing has changed in the order of the contestants for the Best Actor and Best Actress categories. Lee Min Ho is still on top of the list, followed by his "The Heirs" cast-mate Kim Woo Bin. So Ji Sub, the star of "The Master's Sun," remains in third place.
The Best Actress award still looks like it will go to Park Shin Hye who this year appeared in both "The Heirs" and "The Flower Boys Next Door." Second place runner-up is Moon Geun Young, who appeared in "Cheomdamdong Alice" and "Goddess of Fire: Jeonji." Yoon Eun Hye, who appeared in both "Missing You" with Park Yoochun and "Future's Choice" with Lee Dong Gun and Jung Yong Hwa, remains in third place.
But given the upward mobility of "Queen of Ambition," anything can happen.
