Yeon Sang Ho Reveals How 'The Bequeathed' Was Created
In an interview with Netflix, Yeon Sang Ho showed his eternal gratitude to the viewers who supported his new work "The Bequeathed."
The director, for many years, produced high caliber works that instantly became Hallyu classics like "Train To Busan," "Peninsula" and "Hellbound."
"The Bequeathed" follows a woman whose life turns upside down after inheriting a cemetery from an unknown relative. Later on, she experiences bizarre murderous incidents because of it.
The series received great reception from viewers and critics alike, all thanks to its unconventional yet riveting narrative that has never been seen before in other productions.
It's a mixture of fun and thrill where the twists keep every viewer on their toes. Although 2024 just began, "The Bequeathed" already earned the title "Best Dark K-drama of the Year."
According to Yeon Sang Ho, he got the inspiration to create the work after hearing myths and hearsays from the elderly that were entwined with South Korean family culture and sentiments.
"It's a work that was created while brainstorming with other authors," the director shared. "I wanted to keep the concept of "family" in my works so the drama came out in that context."
Moreover, Yeon Sang Ho shocked the public when he revealed that "The Bequeathed" was created in 2014, even before the release of his most noteworthy film "Train To Busan."
