Despite his status, not to mention his growing popularity thanks to the TV series "Marry My Husband," Lee Yi Kyung is proud of the frugal type of living that he learned from his father.

During his appearance on SBS TV's "My Little Old Boy" as a special MC, the actor shared an interesting and economical way to save up on electricity.

Lee Yi Kyung Reveals 'Special Method' for Saving Electricity

The 35-year-old star once again amazed the public, but this time not with his acting skills.

On the variety talk show, Lee Yi Kyung confessed that he has frugal DNA in his body, referring to the "special method" he does when it comes to saving electricity.

The interesting trick was passed down to him by his father, who is a former executive of a renowned company.

According to the actor, he doesn't turn on his heater during the winter.

"I saw my father wearing lightweight padding and socks without turning on the heater," he said, referring to the "special method" that he was talking about.

Lee Yi Kyung said that he used to "hate" seeing his father like that but realized that he eventually did the same thing.

As a result, his electricity bill is just around 20,000 KRW, or around 15 USD for the whole month.

When asked about how he stays warm, Lee Yi Kyung said he uses an electric blanket. The actor added that he only has to endure the cold when he wakes up in the morning and washes up.

Who is Lee Yi Kyung's Father?

Lee Yi Kyung's father is Lee Ung Bom, the former CEO of LG Innotech; hence, he is among South Korean celebrities born into a wealthy family.

Despite being born with a silver spoon, the actor once revealed that he dropped out of school, and to make ends meet, Lee Yi Kyung worked at a DVD rental shop as a part-timer.

In addition to this, he also lived in a rooftop apartment.

During his appearance in JTBC's "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" in 2019, he shared that his father was the one who suggested he take a gap year.

"I used to play sports, but I gave up because I got hurt. After my dream disappeared, I developed [depression]. My dad said, 'Just live doing what you want to do,' and signed my [school] withdrawal papers."

Lee Yi Kyung is currently starring in "Marry My Husband" as the villain Park Min Hwan, but viewers knew him as the comedic Lee Joon Ki in "Welcome to Waikiki" seasons 1 and 2.
