Kim Seon Ho Reveals Getting Extremely Low Talent Fee as Rookie Actor
Before his on-screen debut, the "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" star began his career as a stage actor. He is among the K-drama actors who started their acting journey in theater and worked their way up.
Now, he is considered one of the big stars in the industry.
During his appearance on PDC's YouTube channel "Way Back Home," the South Korean heartthrob dished on his love for acting.
In a video, titled "Things That Make Actor Kim Seon Ho Happy," he talked about the start of his acting journey.
At the time, he joined an open-ended run, which meant that as long as the show was making money by selling tickets, they would continue to run the play.
Kim Seon Ho admitted that it was a challenging task, especially with the talent fee. According to him, "the pay for open-run performances is low," adding that he was only paid 18,000 KRW, or around 14 USD per appearance.
It was far short of his living expenses since it also covered his transportation, food, and phone bills. Despite this, he expressed the happiness it brought him.
Kim Seon Ho, who at that time was living with his parents, said that he "felt proud" that he was doing something.
For him, it's not all about the money, but the excitement and satisfaction of being on stage and acting.
The 37-year-old star added that he could still feel pure happiness even now that he has been in the industry for years.
Kim Seon Ho was in his early 30s when he made his debut as a K-drama actor. Although this was considered "late" for some, he was able to capture the hearts of viewers with his impeccable acting.
Best known as Kong Soo Chang in "Two Cops" and Jung Jae Yoon in "100 Days My Prince," Kim Seon Ho skyrocketed his fame after landing the iconic role of good boy Han Ji Pyung in "Start-Up."
The rom-com series, which also starred Bae Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk, sparked a huge craze among K-drama fans.
After this, Kim Seon Ho returned with another hit K-drama. Viewers were delighted with his team-up with Hallyu queen Shin Min Ah in "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha," marking this as another success for Kim Seon Ho.
Kim Seon Ho Update: Actor To Headline 'The Tyrant' & 'Can You Translate This Love?'
Following his on-screen return, Kim Seon Ho is also back in K-dramaland with his first small-screen series, "The Tyrant."
Slated to premiere on Disney+ in 2024, he stars alongside Cha Seung Won and "The Childe '' co-star Kim Kang Woo.
Adding to the list of Kim Seon Ho K-dramas is the rom-com "Can You Translate This Love?".
Helmed by "Bloody Heart" director Yoo Young Eun and penned by the renowned Hong sisters, the upcoming K-drama will also be headlined by Go Yoon Jung, sparking anticipation among fans.
