Since its release, the thriller series "Pyramid Game" has captivated the public with its profound storytelling and an charismatic all-female ensemble.
It depicts the psychological warfare between students who play a popularity voting game in order to avoid being the target of school violence.
The show received high praises from viewers and critics alike, and even sparked global intrigue due to its parallel similarities with the smash hit series "Squid Game" which aired in 2021.
It's described as the high school version of the Netflix series due to its glimpse into real-life circumstances many live in, minus the killings and bloody scenes.
According to the viewers, the two dramas predicating evil and survival through deadly games is their biggest similarity, which makes the works appeal to the public.
'Pyramid Game' Webtoon Writer Praises K-drama Cast
In an interview with TVING, the creator of the webtoon of the same name, Dalgonyak, shared their honest thoughts on the dramatized show.
They tipped their hat to the cast of the drama which impressed them with the high synchronization with the original work which attracted their attention.
"When I saw the cast, I was surprised how similar they were to my characters," Dalgonyak shared. "Each character from the webtoon was expressed vividly by the actors' interpretations."
The writer revealed that their most favorite part is the dodgeball scene, which took place in episode 6, due to how WJSN Bona's Sung Su Ji overcomes the situation with her strategies.
Lastly, Dalgonyak expressed their affection for the work, saying, "The upcoming episodes will capture how the girls of Class 5 unearth secrets and dark truths that fans shouldn't miss."
