After surprising the public with her lengthy apology, Hyeri has now deleted her Instagram post.
Here's the full story.
Hyeri Deletes Apology Letter
Amid the Ryu Jun Yeol - Han So Hee controversy, the "My Roommate is a Gumiho'' star expressed her feelings towards the issue.
Previously, Hyeri's agency, Creative Group Ing, told local media outlet Osen that the actress "has no intentions to provide further responses to the recent SNS-related incident," referring to her Instagram story that the public sees as a jab to Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol.
However, on March 18, the former Girl's Day member posted her statement about the situation involving her past relationship with Ryu Jun Yeol.
She began her post by sincerely apologizing "for the speculations and controversies that arose ''due to her actions" and wasn't able to "consider the ripple effects" that it might have caused to some.
Hyeri continued by mentioning her 8-year relationship that ended in November 2024.
"It was not a decision made in a short period of time, and even after the breakup news came out, we had a conversation about talking more [about our situation]."
In addition, the actress said that she and Ryu Jun Yeol haven't gotten in touch since that conversation, which she described as "overly personal."
"And four months later, I think my emotions after coming across a new article were perceived not as actress Lee Hyeri but as just Lee Hyeri."
Two hours after posting her apology online, Hyeri updated her YouTube channel with a vlog featuring her going back to work after her overseas trip.
Hyeri's Apology Causes Heated Debate
Following this, the actress has decided to take down her post, but the public continues to evaluate the situation, expressing mixed reactions towards her apology.
Although the actress wanted to clear things up, it only added fuel to the fire since netizens had mixed reactions regarding Hyeri's statement.
Fans rallied behind Hyeri and said that a public apology from her is unnecessary and makes them sad after the actress posted one on her social media.
Others analyzed the difference between Hyeri and Han So Hee's apology, while some questioned Ryu Jun Yeol's lack of remorse regarding the incident.
The whole Han So Hee, Ryu Jun Yeol, and Hyeri controversy started after a Japanese netizen claimed that the "My Name" star was lounging at the pool with Ryu Jun Yeol in a fancy hotel in Hawaii.
Although the user did not share photos of the South Korean stars, the incident blew up on social media.
Ryu Jun Yeol's agency responded by saying that the actor flew to Hawaii for a work-related trip, while Han So Hee's agency denied that they were dating and that she was with her close friends for a vacation.
However, the duo continued to make headlines after Dispatch released photos of Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol in Hawaii.
