"Beauty and Mr. Romantic," starring Lim Soo Hyang, is receiving backlash to the point that viewers petitioned to end the series early.
'Beauty and Mr. Romantic' Criticized for Excessive Developments
Lim Soo Hyang and Ji Hyun Woo currently headline the K-drama "Beauty and Mr. Romantic," which airs every Saturday and Sunday.
"Beauty and Mr. Romantic" is Ji Hyun Woo and writer Kim Sa Kyung's reunion following their collaboration "Young Lady and Gentleman." Since their previous work was a success, many are expecting that their second project will also achieve significant success.
However, despite the good start of the series, as of this writing, it is now receiving backlash and the rating record has also declined.
Opinions are divided among viewers regarding the development of the characters' stories, particularly Baek Mi Ja (Cha Hwa Yeon) and her daughter Park Do Ra (Lim Soo Hyang).
In the series, Mi Ja was in debt due to gambling so in exchange for money, she sold her daughter's name.
Due to this, Do Ra's career fell to rock bottom overnight, but the audience complained of her discomfort. Baek Mi Ja's attitude toward her daughter received hate from the public.
Just like the fall of Park Do Ra in the drama, "Beauty and Mr. Romantic" is also unable to stop the decreasing number of viewership ratings.

In episode 14, which aired on May 5, Do Ra ended up in huge debt due to her mom. Her commercials were canceled. Viewers were not impressed by the scene where the lead actress tried to take off her gown after being offered a nude pictorial to pay off her debt.
K-Netz Reportedly Petitioned to End 'Beauty and Dr. Romantic' Early
K-Netz submitted petitions to end the drama early, some also reported the nude pictures of Lim Soo Hyang in the drama. They even criticized the writer for the development of the story.
Viewers poured out complaints saying, "It's too extreme," "It's the value of a KBS weekend drama," "Is it a family drama?" and "It's more provocative than necessary."
A problem was pointed out in the developments regarding Park Do Ra in episodes 13 and 14. The confinement of the female protagonist and the suggestion of nude filming increased viewers' dissatisfaction.
Criticism is also pouring in towards writer Kim Sa Kyung, complaining about the excessive plot development. Viewers do not sympathize with the ongoing situations in the narrative that have crossed the line and gone too far.
Now, attention is being paid to what writer Kim Sa Kyung will do to solve the crisis in the series.
