Byeon Woo Seok Opens Up His Struggles Before Hitting Stardom

It's been more than 8 years before Byeon Woo Seok finally hit stardom. This 2024, as he headlines the smashing hit drama "Lovely Runner," the young actor's popularity also skyrockets, not just in Korea but also abroad.

According to reports and as he confirmed in an interview, "Lovely Runner" took almost three years before making it to the small screen. Byeon Woo Seok was not the first choice in leading the series. But it seems like luck and fate are on his side, he ended up playing the drama's male protagonist Ryu Sun Jae.

The rising actor immediately gained massive popularity and is currently causing the 'Ryu Sun Jae Craze.' However, before he even received recognition from the public, the heartthrob went through a lot of challenges in his career.

In particular, he opened up about the traumas he got from the mistreatment in the industry.

Since his debut as a model in 2011, Byeon Woo Seok did not have a smooth sailing journey. Financial issues were not easy until his modeling career got off the ground. He was beyond grateful to his family for supporting him in his endeavors and promised to repay them once he finally got his break.

Luckily, even though he had not had his breakthrough yet, due to his determination and hard work, he was able to help his parents pay their debts.

Byeon Woo Seok Experienced Traumas During His Rookie Days

As his journey went on, in 2016, he finally transitioned as an actor and debuted in tvN's "Dear My Friends." However, it was not an easy path for him. He was often scolded on set and even had to quit a role during the table reading.

"I was cut after reading a script, and it was a series of traumas. I got cursed a lot and there was a time when my self-esteem was at its lowest. I really like being filmed, but I kept getting scolded, so I got camera anxiety."

He went on, "I wondered if it was right to do acting even though I heard people around me say that it won't work out for me in 5 years. But I didn't want to be discouraged, so I tried to overcome my shortcomings and traumas by playing different roles."

Byeon Woo Seok also mentioned that during their company dinners, a group chat was made for the actors. He thought that everyone would come to the dinner but the actors were all busy with their schedules and ended up alone. It hurted his pride and admitted to crying.

"I cried to get rid of the thought and believed that I should continue acting. I wanted to do better and become a person who can work hard."

Years later, the breakout star's hard work is finally paying off as this 2024, Byeon Woo Seok is making headlines in multiple media platforms. His drama "Lovely Runner" also amasses global recognition.
