Fans of Chinese actress Yang Zi are celebrating after the news broke that she will be a torchbearer for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics!

The announcement, which initially trended on Chinese social media without confirmation from Yang Zi or her team, was officially confirmed when the French Embassy in China shared the trending hashtag about Yang Zi becoming a torchbearer.

This is the second time this honor has been bestowed upon a Chinese actress this year, following Zhao Lusi who became a torchbearer in May.
Yang Zi's fans are ecstatic about the news, especially considering the way it was announced by the French Embassy.
This adds to what is already shaping up to be a fantastic month for the 31-year-old actress.
She recently received a Magnolia Award nomination for her performance in "Lost You Forever," is nearing the completion of filming her new drama "Flourished Peony," and there are talks of a sequel to "Lost You Forever" airing this summer.
Interestingly, Yang Zi's birth name, Yang Ni-Ao, has a connection to the Olympics.
She chose her stage name "Andy" while studying English as a child, though she now jokes about how it's typically a boy's name.
