Son Dam Bi revealed on her YouTube channel that she and her husband, former South Korean national speed skater Lee Kyou Hyuk, have undergone an in-vitro fertilization (IVF).
In her latest video on her channel, titled "Thank You for Your Support," the actress shared an update regarding the process after visiting the hospital for treatment.
Expressing her deep gratitude and heartfelt support of fans and viewers, Son Dam Bi mentioned that she was energized reading comments from her previous vlog, where she shared the start of their journey on IVF.
As for her latest vlog, the actress revealed the changes that she is going through and how she and her husband are dealing with them.
Son Dam Bi Shares Changes She Experienced During IVF Treatment
According to the "When the Camellia Blooms" actress, she is experiencing major physical changes, including the side effects of the whole process, after starting the IVF journey.
"My face is swollen. I don't know if it's a side effect of the medicine, but it's very swollen. I've been receiving injections for four days now, and I'm going to the hospital to check if I can use more of this medicine or if I need to change it."
Along with her husband during the hospital visit, Son Dam Bi also shared Lee Kyou Hyuk's honest thoughts regarding pregnancy.
The former South Korean national speed skater lauded the mothers' bravery for being able to carry the child for several months despite how "scary" and painful it is.
"I think it will be scary when giving birth to a baby. Women seem to be able to endure pain better than men. Mothers are great."
Son Dam Bi Says Her Age Becomes A Factor During the Process
After visiting the hospital, Son Dam Bi updated fans regarding the procedure and revealed that she had three injections in her stomach. The actress also mentioned the doctor's assessment regarding the process.
According to the 40-year-old actress, she was told that her age is a major factor regarding the success rate of the treatment.
"The eggs are growing well, but not many due to my age. I was told that after three more days of injections and seeing the progress, I would decide whether or not I would be able to retrieve the eggs."
As mentioned by the NHS, IVF is recommended to women under 43 "who have been trying to get pregnant through regular unprotected sex for 2 years."
At the end of her vlog, she once again thanked her fans and viewers for their "sincere support," which fuels her to be more "courageous and positive."
Meanwhile, Son Dam Bi married former speed skater Lee Kyou Hyuk in 2022.
She has appeared in various K-dramas like "When the Camellia Blooms" and "Mrs. Cop" sSeason 2, and was also part of MBN's TV show "Not Hocance but Scance."
