'Lovely Runner' Star Sung Byung Seok Surprises Many With Her Friendship With Byeon Woo Seok

On the 606th episode of MBN's "Dongchimi" aired on June 29, seasoned actress Sung Byung Seok made her guest appearance. Many are familiar with her as she starred in multiple dramas already.

Her latest screen work was tvN's megahit rom-com series "Lovely Runner," where she played the role of Jung Mal Ja, Im Sol's (Kim Hye Yoon) grandmother. 

During the interview, she mentioned Byeon Woo Seok, with whom she worked in the popular drama. The host asked if people would ask her more about "Lovely Runner" since it has hit Korea by storm. 

Sung Byung Seok responded:

"In particular, women in their twenties and thirties stick to me like gum and ask me all sorts of questions."

Then MC Park Soo Hong asked if she is friends with the lead actor Byeon Woo Seok, to which the veteran actress proudly said:

"Of course."

Everyone in the studio could not hide their surprise and envy when photos of Sung Byung Seok and Byeon Woo Seok being affectionately taken on set were flashed on the screen, showing their close friendship.

Sung Byung Seok Praises Byeon Woo Seok's Personality

The host asked if they were close, Sung Byung Seok smiled and said, "Yes."

Then she started talking and praised Byeon Woo Seok.

"He's so kind, sweet, and gentle, so I understand why people are crazy about Ryu Sun Jae in the drama and why young women like him so much and their hearts flutter." 

Sung Byung Seok shot some scenes with Byeon Woo Seok in "Lovely Runner" and one of the fans' favorites was at the finale episode of the series. It was when Jung Mal Ja approached Sun Jae to thank him for coming into Im Sol's life. 

Byeon Woo Seok, who was not supposed to cry at that scene, got emotional and ended up crying. Many speculated that he remembered his late grandmother to Sung Byung Seok, making the viewers emotional. 

Sung Byung Seok also appeared in some of the acclaimed dramas and movies such as "Misaeng: Incomplete Life," "Angel's Last Mission: Love," "Doctor Cha," "The Uncanny Counter Season 2," "Goodbye Earth," "Black Money," "Badland Hunters," "Wonderland," and more.
