Korean pop sensation and actress IU recently opened up about her health struggles leading up to her concert in Manila a couple of months ago.
During an episode of her YouTube series "IU TV " she shared, "I haven't been feeling my best since the start of this tour."
Despite facing challenges with rehearsals she was relieved that her vocals were still on point even though she had to reduce practice time due to swelling in her hands and feet caused by the antibiotics she was prescribed.
The 31-year-old singer-actress mentioned that she had been taking medication, including antibiotics, that led to swelling in her hands and feet. In a tone, she quipped, "Fingers crossed that my face won't be puffy tomorrow." She shared her intention to get a night's sleep and motivated herself with a positive mantra before hitting the stage for the concert at around 6 30 PM.
This update follows IU's return to the Philippines on June 1, 2024, for her HEREH concert at the Philippine Arena.
According to a report by ABS-CBN, the event drew a crowd of 40,000 fans who filled the venue with excitement. Tickets sold out quickly, prompting promoter PULP World to release seats to meet demand.
This marked IUs performance in the country since her "Love Poem" tour in December 2019.
Fans erupted into cheers as IU made an entrance wearing a white outfit.Lee Ji Eun, known by her stage name, warmly interacted with her Filipino fans, often using expressions to convey her emotions. "I've missed hearing your voices. I'm happy " she shared.
The three-hour concert was an experience featuring captivating song and dance performances displayed on screens. IU treated the audience to a setlist of 28 songs, including hits like "BBIBBI " "Blueming," and "eight," a collaboration with BTS rapper Suga. Fans joyfully sang along, and waved light sticks, creating an atmosphere.
At one point, IU even joined children on stage for a dance routine from one of her music videos further connecting with the crowd.
Throughout the evening, IU showcased her versatility across genres such as bossa nova and acoustic ballads. She also performed a rendition of the Filipino song "Pasilyo" by local band SunKissed Lola while mentioning how much she enjoyed preparing for it.
After the concert concluded, IU took song requests from the audience and ang some of their songs from her music collection. She expressed gratitude for her fans unwavering support by stating, "You all are amazing. This truly feels like paradise - you are my heaven."
She made sure to mention before leaving the stage that she wouldn't make Manila wait another five years. "I'm feeling so happy tonight. It's a moment! Lets see each other again soon."
IU recently concluded her '2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT' after a five month run. The singer-actress Is scheduled to take the stage on September 21 and 22 at Seoul World Cup Stadium.
