'Queen Woo' is set in Korea's historical Goguryeo era. Jeon Jong Seo, Ji Chang Wook and Kim Mu Yeol 's characters start off the series as queen, king, and prime minister, respectively. The trio have known each other since their youth. Jeon Jong Seo dreamed of being a female warrior, but she ended up marrying Ji Chang Wook to save her sister from an arranged marriage. While Kim Mu Yeol's character was given the prime minister job, after Ji Chang Wook's character ascended the throne.

Ministers in the kingdom harbor pure hatred with the king's choice of prime minister, and they hate the queen, as well. They plot to kill them. Unfortunately, someone in the palace succeeds and poisons the king, but the queen flees and embarks on journey to find a younger brother of her husband to marry and protect the kingdom.

While the ministers and other princes pose a threat to the queen's kingdom, we learn the queen's older sister, who Jung Yu Mi portrays, is secretly jealous of her. She planned to reclaim the throne she believes is rightfully hers before the king's death. The Queen's oldest sister is someone she should be cautious of, because she's currently in charge of her royal maids.

'Queen Woo's' four episode premiere was full of action and controversy. The series has more of an adult rating due to strong language and sexual scenes. The most notable mature scenes involve the king and the queen's oldest sister. The series, which also stars Lee Soo Hyuk, Park Ji Hwan, airs Thursdays at 10:30PM KST on the tvN/Tving network.
