Kim Woo Bin, a well-known actor who has played leading roles in numerous films and dramas, recently shared his story of battling nasopharyngeal cancer.
During the filming of the Salty Brother with its regular host, Shin Dong-yup, Kim revealed that even after being told he had just six months left, he has not lost his positive attitude and "never once thought, 'What if I can't overcome this?'"
The episode aired on September 16, and Kim was accompanied by his co-star Kim Sung-kyun, who, alongside the actor, was promoting the new Netflix movie "Officer Black Belt," in which they both starred. In 2017, Kim Woo Bin was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer.
Kim brought non-alcoholic beer to the show, and the cast of Salty Brother found this heartwarming, "in a way of reminding them that health comes first." Whether the actor intended the gesture or not, Shin Dong-yup, a close friend of Kim, was casting jokes throughout the episode.
Shin revealed that Kim Woo Bin was never a heavy drinker, and after a glass of alcohol, he would act lovely and silly. In the end, the actor said that the support of his friend was of utmost importance: "Just knowing someone as well-known as Shin Dong-yup gave me strength."
When he casually invited me for meals, saying, 'Woo-bin, let's eat,' it meant a lot." The cast also made jokes asking how the actor is able to be in good shape with the tight schedule he has. Kim recognized that regular exercises and sauna were of some assistance to him.
Shin also made a joke about Kim's perfect body that might be annoying to other folks in the swimming pool, and Kim humbly explained, "I have thick clothing."
Kim Woo Bin, known for his dedication to the roles he plays, has also said that he gained eight kilograms purposely for his leading role in a film. He shared, "I wanted my character to have a more average physique; I happily ate a lot to properly pile up at least some body fat.
