Nakayama Miho, a famed Japanese actress and singer has passed away due to a drowning accident at her residence in Shibuya, Tokyo, at the age of 50.
According to My Daily, authorities said the incident happened on Dec. 6, and her body was found that morning.
Nakayama was supposed to perform at a Christmas concert in Osaka on the same date.
Distraught colleagues who went to her home after her absence from a meeting at 9 a.m. found her in the tub unresponsive.
Police and representatives of her management agency had said there was no sign of foul play, misuse of medication or a suicide note at the scene, calling the event an "unfortunate accident."
An autopsy determined that Nakayama died from accidental drowning while bathing.
Nakayama, the daughter of a Japanese father and a Japanese-American mother, was born in Tokyo.
She began acting at age 14, making her debut in the television drama Every Time You Call. She quickly became famous, acting in hit dramas and movies, including the critically acclaimed Love Letter.

As a singer, she was known for hit songs, including "Tweed no Nuguene" and "WAKU WAKU Sasete," which put her at the head of Japan's idol scene in the 1980s.
In her long career, Nakayama became one of Japan's favorite female idols, with peers like Shizuka Kudo.
She married musician and novelist Tsuji Hitonari in 2002 and moved to Paris, but the onetime star took a break from her career, returning to acting with the 2010 film Sayonara Itsuka. The couple divorced in 2014.

Miho will not only be known for her soundness but also for her contribution to the entertainment industry in Japan.
