On January 2, BH Entertainment revealed that the script reading was set to happen soon but had been delayed.

This follows the crash of a Jeju Air passenger plane that killed 179 of the 181 people onboard. South Korea announced seven days of national mourning until January 4.

According to XportsNews, BH Entertainment said, "The script reading was scheduled then postponed because of the national mourning period. The network said, "Given the social atmosphere surrounding this time, we determined to adjust the schedule."

The cancellation attracted notice after Park faced controversy over a social media post recently.

He posted a new year-themed adult-oriented parody based on the Netflix series Squid Game on his personal account, which he rapidly took down on December 30.

His agency explained that it was posted by mistake as he was trying to send it in private to someone.

In light of the controversy, both BH Entertainment and tvN have stated that the cancellation is only in "respect to the national mourning" and not related to the backlash against Park's social media activity.

Following the tragedy, several entertainment events, such as award shows and movie launches, have been canceled or postponed in the country, which is in mourning.
