A nearly decade-long affair with director Hong Sang Soo has put actress Kim Min Hee in the spotlight of controversy over and over again -- and now that reports of her pregnancy have gone public, there are renewed references to how her mother has weighed in on the matter.

According to Xports News, the scandal emerged initially in 2016 through a leaked KakaoTalk discussion between the mother of Kim Min Hee and the better half of Hong Sang Soo.

In the conversation, Hong's wife despaired and asked Kim Min Hee to "come to her senses and return what she stole."

In response, Kim Min Hee's mother, in a provocative tone, has asked: "Who suffers more, the wife of a cheating husband, or the mother of a daughter in love with a married man?"

The exchange quickly spiraled with Hong Sang Soo's spouse calling Kim Min Hee "an adulteress that ruined a happy family." The mother of Kim Min Hee defended her daughter, replying, "She's a well-raised daughter. Watch your words."

However, it is reported now that Kim Min Hee's mother has accepted the relationship despite their heated exchange.

The pair are now living in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, near Kim Min Hee's mother, leading to speculation that the couple's families had already made up.

The two have also been spotted together, with media outlets taking a snap of Kim Min Hee and Hong Sang-Soo going grocery shopping and even visiting obstetrics and gynecology clinics—stoking even more speculation about what their future might hold.

In fact, it wasn't until last week that eyewitnesses reported that Kim Min Hee has long wished for a child with director Hong Sang Soo.
