Allegations of mistreatment on the set of When Life Gives You Tangerines, a globally popular Netflix original, have surfaced online, raising concerns about working conditions during the production of the streaming giant's hit series.

A viral post shared on social media Tuesday accused the production team of maintaining an "avoided schedule" that resulted in abusive conditions for extras and background actors.

"They even forced haircuts on cast members," the anonymous whistleblower wrote, alleging that extras were treated as expendable.

"The team was hesitant to spend on anyone who wasn't a lead," the post continued, citing widespread cost-cutting practices that reportedly compromised the comfort and safety of non-lead actors.

One of the most serious claims involved elderly background actors being left outside in freezing temperatures without proper winter gear or access to food and shelter.

"Some actors were left outside during heavy snowfall," the whistleblower said, describing an instance where one cast member had to escort another to a heater to prevent a potential health crisis.

Despite the show's rave reviews and commercial success, as well as recent press coverage praising the cast and Netflix's announcement of a significant partnership with Jeju Island, the allegations have caused an uproar among fans and industry insiders.

Critics argue that such conditions contradict the polished image presented in promotional materials and interviews.

According to the post, there were no food trucks or hot beverage stations on set, with background actors allowed only 30-minute breaks at nearby restaurants.

The wardrobe department reportedly did not provide thermal clothing or other winter-appropriate attire.

The post also claimed that production staff pushed for convenience at the expense of actors' autonomy, including forcing haircuts on extras because wigs were deemed "too inconvenient" for the show.

Netflix has not issued an official statement regarding the claims, and the whistleblower's identity has not been confirmed.

However, an alarming number of netizens believe that OP was the person the production was focusing on.

The controversy has cast a shadow over the show's growing fame, as calls for accountability continue to mount.
