In what appears to be a mishap with technoloy, the Director of Sansung, Michael Bay left the stage after he was not able to read the teleprompter.
Spearheading one's way through a CES press conference isn't always easy and it seems Mr. Bay lost his focus without the telemprompter. So now we understand the importance of the telemprompter during a Presidential speech.
There is also something odd about technology working against itself at the Consumer Electronics Show, probably the most biggest trade show event held each year.
Well, Samsung will be looking closely at how its presentation will impact the company's image for the New Year. But anyone who saw the video of the conference would see that Bay was saying sorry as he walked off and he really didn't swear at anyone or make a scene during his exit.
By this time one would think that the technicians on stage would be able to get the teleprompter working again. Or better yet, they could have taken a short break and resume once the gadget was fixed.
It certainly goes to show how dead air time can do to a presentation.
"Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES," Bay said on his website.
The director mentioned that he was blindsided by a telemprompter that was not working. He was making a presentation at Samsungs press conference to push its 105-inch UHD.
Like many business executives, Bay was not comfortable making an impromptu speech and left the stage saying 'sorry.' He also left Joe Stinziano, the Executive VP of Samsung on stage.
LA Times reported Bay as saying, "I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar."
He added, "I got too excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP's intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down -- then I walked off. I guess live shows aren't my thing."
