Microsoft has recently released a marketing campaign that has everyone (gamers alike) in a stir, offering them to hand over their PlayStation 3 consoles for an Xbox One.

The promotion was recently featured on the Microsoft Store website and emailed to customers. It offers $100 worth of credit toward an Xbox One when users' trade in their PS3s. Gamers can also trade in their Xbox 360 S's or Xbox 360 E's for the same discount.

A sample image of the campaign reads: "Ditch your PS3 and get $100 store credit towards Xbox One." This store credit would reduce the price gap between the PS4 and the Xbox One.

The deal does bring the Xbox One's $499 price tag to the PlayStation 4's $399 level. Others are skeptical about the offer and would rather stick to what they have and even wanting to have PS4 instead, but whether consumers are getting the best value for their old consoles is up for debate.

The promotion will run until March 2 in select Microsoft retail stores in the United States and Canada. Consoles must be in proper working condition and must include original chargers and accessories, according to the fine print.
