The anticipated South Park role-playing game South Park: Stick of Truth has been censored in Europe, The Middle East, and Australia with 7 scenes removed from the game.
As BT.com spotted, Ubisoft sent out a document to publications this week confirming that 7 scenes, each around 20 seconds long, have been removed from the EMEA console versions of South Park The Stick of Truth. As we can imagine given the often controversial nature of the TV show the game is based on, the scenes are NSFW reading, and some readers may be sensitive to their descriptions. We've included those descriptions below the break.
The cut scenes include a mini-game in which the doctor is performing an abortion on the player, a mini-game in which the player is performing an abortion on the character Randy, and five anal probing scenes involving someone actively being probed.
Ubisoft says the scenes play out as normal before and after the censored sequences, and that each one is replaced by an image and description selected by South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
A representative in Ubisoft made a statement saying, "the decision is a market decision made by Ubisoft EMEA."
The PC version remains unaffected. It is not known whether the scenes have also been cut from the North American console release.
South Park: The Stick of Truth was granted an 18 rating by European ratings board PEGI for its extreme violence, graphic sexual activity showing genitalia, sexual violence, and strong language.
The game arrives on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on March 4 in North America, March 6 in Australia and March 7 in Europe.
