Trouble in paradise? It seems that while the Japanese are buying PS4's left and right, PS4 games are getting neglected as 30% of PS4 buyers are the only ones who bought games.

PlayStation 4 games aren't selling as quickly as the console itself according to Japanese retailers. According to videogame news site VG 24/7, Japanese gamers didn't rush to buy extra games for their brand new Playstation 4's.

One retailer said only 46% of those buying a PS4 picked up a game, while another said only 30% of console purchasers grabbed any additional software.

When questioned, consumers said they didn't need to buy more games because the console came bundled with Knack, or because they intended to upgrade PS3 games.

For those that did buy a game, "Yakuza Ishin" seems to have been the most popular choice for gamers.

In general, reports suggest demand for the console was pretty high; many smaller retailers sold through their entire allocation of PS4 stock on launch day, although chains and larger stores still have some PS4 units available. One smaller store ran out of consoles but continued selling games, with the result that it shifted more games than hardware, but this seems to be an unusual scenario.

Polygon reported that Sony has sold over 322,000 PS4 units in the first two weeks on sale in Japan. Globally, the console had sold through over 5 million ahead of Japanese launch.

It has been estimated that the PS4 sales in Japan will be over 1 million as soon as the second week of March.
