It been a long time since we've played a Tony Hawk video game and rumours have sprang up on the internet that Activision is working on a new title for skateboard games. But the new Tony Hawk game isn't going to the PlayStation or The Xbox console, it's going to be in our very own mobile gadgets.

The new Tony Hawk is said to be exclusive to mobile devices according to skate legend Tony Hawk himself in an interview with Bloomberg.

"We're working on a mobile game now," he said. "We're working on a game for mobile devices this year. We've never gone exclusively in that direction yet so I'm excited because, with the amount of time people are spending on their phones and their tablets playing games, we've never had our own game in that space so I'm excited to provide one finally."

The new Tony Hawk game for mobiles won't be the first game in the series for smartphones and tablets, as a port of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is available right now on iTunes for $2. But from the way Hawk described the new game, it sounds like it's an original title, not a port of a previous game.

Last week, Hawk revealed that a new Pro Skater game was in development, to be published by Activision, though he declined to give details on platforms or gameplay. It seems then that this is the title that was being discussed, though there remains some hope he could also be working on a title for PS4 and Xbox One.

The most recent game in the series was 2012's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, which was developed by Robomodo and launched for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
